ADC2 Technologies starts by processing the original video frames in real time before passing them on individually to the codec of choice. The resulting much smaller compressed data can then be stored or transmitted in real time to its destination(s) where it will be decompressed by the video codec and then processed by the ADC2 player for high quality viewing in real time.
The ADC2 process is based upon Wavelet Transform technology which has been shown to emulate the human brains method of processing visual data. The unique algorithms developed by ADC2 Technologies eliminate irrelevant information leaving a much smaller file that retains the same visually perceptible quality as before. The file can then be used with your choice of existing video compression codecs resulting in digital video files that can be reduced to 1/10th the size of the files using these codecs alone.
The chart below gives examples of HD 1080p video compression using a standard codec (such as H264) alone that results in a bit rate of 6 Mbps for good video visual quality and using the same codec with the same settings (except bit rate) in combination with the ADC2 pre- and post-processing resulting in very similar perceived video quality as the one produced by the codec alone but with bit rates of 1.5 Mbps and 0.75 Mbps.
